In just three years, Megan Bruce has made the astonishing leap from building her first Caterham race car by hand to lining up on the world stage in the F1 Academy.Ìý

Megan’s passion for racing began long before she sat behind the wheel. Growing up surrounded by cars with a father who dabbled in club racing, weekends at Silverstone and Goodwood became part of her childhood.ÌýWhile revising for her GCSEs at Hurst,ÌýMegan remembers watching Jamie Chadwick win the W Series and thinking she was so cool and how she wanted to do that too.Ìý

After finishing A-levelsÌýat Hurst, MeganÌýdecided to take a gap year before starting a degree in Mechanical Engineering. That gap year changed everything. Megan entered the Caterham Academy, which is a Championship designed for beginners. Megan built her own car from scratch before taking it to circuits around the UK and was hooked.Ìý

Megan completed her first year at the University of Exeter while also racing in another Caterham Championship and competing in GB4,Ìýan enormous challenge for a newcomer in a single seater.ÌýThe majority ofÌýcompetitors in GB4 have been karting sinceÌývery youngÌýages, which meant that Megan had to learn everything – technique, speed,ÌýracecraftÌý– from scratch and as fast as possible.Ìý

Megan had an early breakthrough, scoring her first podium after just five race starts. It wasÌýan incredible achievement. Megan’s strong GB4 results soon caught the attentionÌýof the F1 Academy who selected Megan for their prestigious Rookie test.ÌýMegan had an excellent test finishing the afternoon session in second place, earning herself an invitation to make her debut at the Singapore Grand Prix in October 2025. Megan’s incredible performance in Singapore saw TAG Heuer sign her for the 2026 race season. Her dream was coming true.Ìý

The physical aspects of racingÌýhaveÌýmeant Megan has had to spend a lot of time training and she is incredibly proud to have progressed so quickly.ÌýÌý

Megan credits her family, team,Ìýand driver coach for helping her to navigate the steep learning curve she has been on and is looking forward to doing all that she can to race professionally and win as many races and championships as possible.ÌýHurst isÌýproud ofÌýall thatÌýMeganÌýhas achieved,Ìýand she has become a strong role model for girls at the College, especially those who may be considering a future in motorsport.ÌýÌý
