Year 3 enjoyed an exciting and hands-on educational visit toÌýButserÌýAncient Farm, where their learning about prehistoric Britain truly came to life. The children explored how people lived from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age, gaining a fascinating insight into life thousands of years ago.Ìý
During the visit, the children were immersed in prehistoric life from the moment they arrived. They sat inside a Stone Age house, gathered around a fire wrapped in cosy animal skins, and learned about how early humans survived using the resources around them. This experience helped the children to visualise and better understand what daily life would have been like for our ancestors.Ìý
The day was filled with engaging, practical workshops that encouraged curiosity and creativity. The children madeÌýclunchÌýusing chalk, mud and water and worked together to build their own wall, allowing them to experience firsthand early building techniques. They also created their own prehistoric pottery, discovering how clay was shaped and decorated in ancient times.Ìý
In another workshop, the children explored the Bronze Age, making copper wire jewellery while learning about early metalworking skills. They also created chalk carvings, which they decorated using natural colouring made from charcoal and leavesÌýjust as prehistoric people would have done.Ìý
The trip provided a memorable and meaningful learning experience, bringing classroom topics vividly to life. Throughout the day, the children showed excellent enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork, and theyÌýrepresentedÌýthe school brilliantly. As we were leaving the site, our group leader even commented on how fantastically behaved the children were,Ìýa wonderful end to a fantastic day.Ìý
